SMID HOUSE SHOOT: A DARK & DREAMY LOOK

SMID HOUSE SHOOT: A DARK & DREAMY LOOK - Marrow Fine

SMID HOUSE: A DARK & DREAMY SHOOT FOR MARROW FINE FALL LINE

Marrow Fine at a Modern Farm House

Oh man.  This shoot is everything coming together: Our fall lookbook, the launch of our new website and the unveiling of so many new designs.  I’ve been feeling incredibly inspired by the men’s wear showing up all over the runways and all things Gucci (Alessandro Michele is a genius, plain and simple).

So that is where the feel and vibe of this shoot started.  Then, throw in interior designer, Betsy Ginn’s home as the backdrop and I almost died of prettiness overload.  Not to mention she has free-roaming ducks, chickens, and a 300-pound potbelly pig that would wander into shots at the perfect time! GAH!

I’ve been wanting to work with fashion photographer Justin Nunez forever and our schedules finally worked out perfectly.  His eye is incredible and his editing is bananas.  He was one of the only guys on set and it all just flowed.  You would never know that he’s shot the likes of Rhianna, Cara Delevingne and Ophelie Guillermand...he’s just the most humble down-to-earth guy.

Sarah Kensell with Modern Boheme just “got” my vibe and styled this shoot with the perfect mix of new and vintage.  I have a feeling I will be adding a bow to all of my styles this fall….I just love this look.

Now let’s talk about the jewels!  Many of the wedding bands and engagement rings feature champagne diamonds this fall.  We source a specific champagne color (C3 is the technical color grade) that’s not too dark and yellow and not too light.  Imagine the color of your favorite champagne and that’s it!  I’m loving these as they look elevated, beautiful and sparkly but don’t carry as steep of a price tag as a typical white diamond.

Charlotte, our lead buyer, and I are also obsessed with ballerina rings (typically many tapered baguettes surrounding a center stone) from the art deco era. We loved the idea of creating jackets that could be added or removed?  So you will see ballerina-inspired bands that can be worn on their own or mixed and matched to create a completely unique setting.  My current obsession is the Emerald City Band combined with our Champagne Headdress Band!

Every person on set was so incredibly passionate about their craft and I think that burning desire to create something unique and special jumps out of these images.  I hope they grab you too...enjoy!
