Marrow Stories: Jessica De La Riva

In our new series, Marrow Stories, we’re sitting down with clients to hear the heart behind their heirlooms and custom designs. These are the stories that inspire everything we do.

For this feature, we chatted with longtime Marrow client Jessica De La Riva, who shared the incredibly personal meaning behind two of her most cherished pieces.

Jessica grew up admiring her grandmother, who was never without a beautiful piece of jewelry. She remembers being captivated by the way her grandmother styled each piece so effortlessly, turning jewelry into a daily ritual, and a way of expressing love. On one special birthday, her grandmother gifted her a set of citrine jewelry, her birthstone, which Jessica wore nearly every day for years.

As she got older and discovered Marrow, Jessica felt ready to reimagine the gift into something more modern—something that felt true to her current style but still honored the original piece and the bond it represented.

After attending a Marrow trunk show and working closely with one of our stylists, she designed a custom ring around that same citrine stone, pairing it with an antique diamond that she absolutely loved. The combination gave the piece a fresh yet timeless feel that felt entirely her own.

The final piece became a symbol of love, memory, and transformation—one that continues to connect her to her grandmother in a deeply meaningful way.

“I loved that the design was original and just for me,” she shared. “No one else in the world would have the same ring, which made a special stone into an even more special piece of art. Whenever I wear it, I get to think of her and the connection we had through jewelry and our mutual love for it.”

Another piece in Jessica’s collection—the Always Enamel Band—holds a different kind of memory. After the passing of her beloved dog, she visited our Newport Beach showroom and chose the enamel band. When she got home, she saw a post on Marrow’s Instagram explaining that the band was designed to honor someone or something close to your heart—something you want to always carry with you.

It hit home. Jessica felt an instant emotional connection between the ring and her loss. That band became more than just a piece of jewelry—it became a way to remember.
