We all know a woman in our lives that has everything. She always looks put together, she has the perfect accessory for every occasion, and she is impossible to buy for. That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t deserve an amazing gift from you this year that says “I know you, and I got you something special”. Cue, the Marrow Fine Birthstone collection.

First, what is a birthstone and why is it so special to someone?

To start, there are traditional and modern birthstones, each with their own special meaning. Traditional birthstones date back to ancient times, and it is believed that each birthstone held a special power or gave someone a new ability. People would try to collect and wear all twelve gems throughout the year as talismans or for therapeutic benefits. Most of the traditional birthstone gems were transparent and opaque gems, such as opal, pearl, and turquoise.

Modern birthstones got popular around 1912 when the US National Association of Jewelers released a more modern list of birthstones to include more gems. However, they kept the idea that each birthstone had a different meaning both for the giver and the receiver. For example: people that are born in July have a modern Ruby birthstone. Ruby symbolizes devotion, integrity, courage and happiness. Rubies are said to energize its wearer and encourage generosity.

So, not only are birthstones unique to each person, they symbolize what you wish for someone else or reflects their best personality traits

Now that you know what a birthstone is, lets run through some modern gems and what they mean

January: Garnet

Garnets can range in color but most of us know them as a dark red. Garnet signifies trust and friendship. Traditionally, this gem was believed to protect people during their travels.

After looking at all of the options of gems and what each one means, you have a good idea of why birthstones make the perfect gifts.  We've highlighted 5 reasons why a Marrow Fine Birthstone collection should be your go-to gift in 2021.

1. They are unique and timeless pieces of jewelry

Want to impress someone that has everything? Get them something unique and meant for only them. A birthstone is the perfect way to celebrate the month they were born, highlight your favorite personality trait, or give them a confidence boost. It shows that you care and want their gift to be special.

2. They pair with everything

There is no better feeling than having the person that you bought a gift for actually wear it! The beauty of the birthstone collection is that it can go with virtually anything.

She can wear her birthstone ring with an engagement ring, a wedding band, or even by itself. It’s delicate, but versatile and can ruin no outfits.

Not sure what size ring she is? Use this guide from Marrow Fine to find her exact ring size, or order a ring sizer tool.

3. Set yourself up to give the perfect gift each year

Not only can you give her a birthstone ring this year, but due to its versatility, you can add to her stack every occasion after that. Marrow Fine ring collections are not only beautiful pieces of jewelry by themselves, but most are designed to be stacked with one another. So, no need to stop at just one piece... you can continue to add to it every year after that.

Plus, don’t stop at getting her just one of the birthstones for her month, we give you the option of two birthstones for several of the months. Check out the full collection complete with months and different styles here.

4. They add a pop of color to her existing wedding band stack

Does she have a unique engagement ring and wedding band? Then why not add onto the stack and get them a pop of color that is all her own.

Not only does the birthstone add color, but it also adds that extra sparkle to her hand. We love seeing classic solitaire engagement rings paired with more modern pieces, like our sparkly emerald stacking bands.

5. Marrow Fine Birthstone Collection adds an aspect of sentimentality to your gift

It goes without saying that giving a quality piece of jewelry that stands the test of time can mean so much more than something that will wither away as she wears it. Fine jewelry says that you care about her and the jewelry that she puts on her body. Plus with the added bonus of it being a piece that will remind her of herself, or her children, or even you... it will be a winner in everyone’s book.

By giving a gift with some meaning behind it she will be reminded of her best personality traits every time that she looks down.

The birthstone collection as a gift says so much more than Merry Christmas or happy birthday—it says I see you, I love you, and I want you to be uniquely you. It not only shows that you value her enough to get her a quality piece of fine jewelry but that you went the extra mile to make it unique to only her.

If you want to go the extra step and really fill out her stack, then check out these memory rings  that will remind her of you every time she looks down.
